Integrating with an Oracle Application
All Databases Tree View

Connect BarTender to Oracle WMS and MSCA applications to create a seamless application-to-printer label creation process. Create XML scripts in your Oracle applications and send the scripts to Commander either as a file or through a TCP/IP socket. Translate the incoming Oracle scripts into BTXML Script using XSL style sheets, and send the new scripts to BarTender for processing. Refer to the XML Integration with Oracle's WMS and MSCA white paper for complete instructions on how to integrate Oracle and BarTender.

The All Database Tree View (located on the left side of the Database Connection Setup dialog) gives the user access to all available databases, including tables and fields for view, modifications, queries, SQL statements, etc. Any level of the tree view can be expanded by clicking on the (+) sign to the left of its icon and collapsed by pressing the (-) sign.

The root item of the tree view is All Databases. Below it you will find all of the databases that have been added. Beneath each database is a list of all of the tables selected for that database. Below each table are the fields in that table. Selecting a particular item in the tree view will show its corresponding options in the tabs to the right of the tree view. The selected item determines which Database Connection Setup tabs are made available. You can display a context menu with various database options by right-clicking on an item in the All Databases tree.

  • Add. Displays the Add Database Connection Wizard, which allows you to add a database to the active BarTender document.

  • Remove. Removes the selected database or table.

On the right side of the Database Connection Setup dialog, the following tabs allow you to customize your database connection. These tabs will appear based on the item that is selected in the All Databases tree.

  • Tables. Allows the user to view, add, and remove tables from the selected database.

  • Query. Specifies the criteria which records from the selected database must meet in order to be printed.

  • Sort. Sorts selected fields from the selected database.

  • SQL. Allows the user to write custom SQL statements for the selected ODBC or OLE DB data source.

  • Master Segment. Sets the Master Segment for an SAP IDoc.

  • Options. Specifies various options for the selected database.

  • Status. Displays the status of the item selected in the All Databases tree.

  • Browse. Allows the user to view record data of the item selected in the All Databases tree.
